“too mean spirited towards Sunset Shimmer” Despite being an ultimate SS fan,…I kind of liked this bitterness in the movie. I liked the fact that between movies people weren’t thinking “Oh? You bullied us for years (since you were a kid even, demonstrated in the Fall Formal picture), destroyed the school, turned us into zombies, and tried to use us to take over the world? We’re totally gonna forgive you for that in a span of 10 seconds!” This is the reality we live in. I mean if someone did that kind of shit to me, I wouldnt forgive them at all. What she had to do was do something big to win back everyone’s trust after she’d been a pain to them even before the crown showed up in their world. Once that happened at the end of Rainbow Rocks, they cut her some slack. So yah, that’s pretty accurate to me.
“the story was pretty bad” I actually thought the story was definitely better than the first one because we got to see more than just “Twilight’s gotta save the day again!” She even spent a majority of this movie crouching down in a corner writing lyrics. I was kind of upset that they weren’t helping her with that though. But this way, she didn’t have as big a role in the movie as previously. Sunset Shimmer’s story of trying to fit back in was the most interesting to me because we could see more of her character development. Trying to sucessfully make the Rainbooms work out was okay too, a legitimate reality issue that bands face (remember the boy band and music group era?) The only thing that sucked was that Rainbow Dash was more of a dick than usual, but all the other members stayed in their character (Pinkie wanting the band to be about fun, Rarity wanting the best costumes, Applejack focusing on the task at hand, ect.) Also, would you believe a certain SOMEPONY said something NICE about FLASH SENTRY despite him loathing the guy in the first movie?? Go ask him to explain it. :)
